Shaun Burgess

Shaun Burgess was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, England where he still lives with his wife and three children. He is a self-taught artist and works from a studio at the bottom of his garden. Shaun works in oils where his natural tendency towards realism and order is offset with an urge to create contradiction via abstract marks and colour. He takes inspiration from disrupted realism enjoying the interest and movement the style offers him. His works are sold via online and physical galleries which has led to pieces being shipped to collectors in the UK, America, Australia and Europe.

    Deborah Burrow

Deborah has always drawn inspiration from  landscapes and wildlife, influenced by her rural upbringing. She  primarily paints in acrylic but also uses watercolour and ink, employing  colour and textural techniques to give a modern twist to landscapes and  wildlife.

For Deborah, nothing  beats getting out into the countryside to find her inspiration. She  finds that capturing the right moment triggers something much deeper  than making art, that it nudges her soul to remember who she is and what  it is that she wants to share. Deborah’s work is often called  atmospheric, peaceful, and soothing.

      Martin Carter

Following a degree in Art and Design, Martin spent nearly two  decades working as a graphic designer and illustrator, honing a keen eye  for detail and composition. From 2006 to 2020, he was mentored by  painter Fraser Diesel, whose guidance deeply influenced his evolving  artistic voice. Extensive travel enriched his understanding of global  art history and helped shape the distinctive style he brings to his work  today. Martin's practice spans photography, pen and ink drawing,  sculpture, and art film; interwoven to reflect nature’s dialogue with  human experience.

        Andrew Casey

Andrew has been active on the local art scene for many years and  has taught art and design in school and college. He established the  Young Blood group in the 1980s. He joined the Ipswich Art Society in  1985, later becoming an honorary member. His most recent work is  inspired by shop windows, old buildings and in particular old houses  decaying in the urban landscape. He uses pen and wash working quickly to  catch the spirit of the building or shop window, applying watercolours  loosely.

            Alison Clarke

Alison lives with her husband in Ipswich and started to paint  after having been on a residential course with Wiltshire artist Steve  Hall, loving his loose and expressive style. She has studied with other  artists since and is developing her own particular style, loving to  paint landscapes and places where she has travelled. Alison has sold  paintings of local scenes including the Tide Mill in Woodbridge and is  very much a developing artist. She feels there is still much to learn  and discover and the fluidity and unpredictability of watercolour  enables a dynamic variety of styles and subject matter.

Lucy Bell grew up in rural Buckinghamshire and studied at Ruskin School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. She has lived in East Anglia for 20 years, often showing with RASEAG (RA Schools Graduates of this region). Lucy is an abstract landscape painter mainly working in oils, inspired by the local environment. Her work is influenced largely by 20th century artists who use expressive colour – from Van Gogh to Klee and Sean Scully. The play on texture and pattern in nature has parallels for her with textiles.

Since graduating, BA(Hons) Art and Design, Sherie has had a diverse artistic career. She won the Anna Airy award shortly after completing her degree. Sherie’s expressive landscapes are an embodiment of the connection she feels between herself and the Earth. Her art has touched on different mediums and styles, often combining them to create mixed media pieces. However, whether abstract, decorative or realistic, it is capturing spirit, feeling and intimacy which is fundamental to her work. Sherie lives in Suffolk where she exhibits locally. She has undertaken many commissions and has works in private collections.

Rita moved to Suffolk in 1971 with her husband and their three children. Having attended various art classes, including evening classes at Middlesbrough Art School, she eventually became a student of Michael Norman in 1989, which continued for many years. His teaching was invaluable. Favourite subjects are old, interesting buildings, the countryside and riverscapes. Her work is generally traditional, though sometimes verging on abstract. She also enjoys portrait painting. Rita has exhibited widely in East Anglia, and had solo and shared exhibitions. Was an award winner in 2014 with the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists. Has had many commissions.

Susie is a member of the Suffolk Craft Society as a Printmaker. Susie trained at Cheltenham and Lowestoft colleges in Art. Susie has exhibited widely, and now works from her studio in Woodbridge where she is painting, sometimes using mixed media and collage.
