This annual exhibition at the University of Suffolk organised by Ipswich Art Society and generously sponsored by The Arts Society South East Suffolk and The Arts Society Woodbridge showcases the amazing art being produced in our local schools. The Anna Airy Award for Painting was won by Madeleine Weaver (Ipswich School) for her evocative and intriguing tapestry like painting inspired by old photographs of members of her family she never new. Nicole Horsup ( Kesgrave High School) won an award for her stunning portrait in which she depicted three generations. Daniel Ramsden (Northgate High School) was another award winner with his powerful and thought provoking image of a rhinoceros. Nell Mayhew from Farlingaye High School

was the fourth award winner with her collection of show stopping textiles. Working on a variety of themes the one that caught the judge’s eye was a particularly beautiful one entitled Decay.

    November 16th – December 5th

    University of Suffolk, Waterfront Building.

This major annual exhibition, organised by the Art Society and generously supported by The Arts Society South East Suffolk and The Woodbridge Arts Society, is for up-and-coming artists up to the age of 20. The standard was, as usual,  extremely high, and well worth the visit to see the energy and creativity of these young artists.

Masculinity in Blossom by Archie Reynolds

Sponsored by The Arts Society: South East Suffolk and The Arts Society Woodbridge.

Organised by the Ipswich Art Society in association with the University of Suffolk.

Anna Airy (1882 - 1964) was one of the most distinguished painters of her generation with work represented in many major national collections. For 19 years she was the President of the Ipswich Art Club (now Society). As a much respected teacher at Ipswich Art School she always included a student section in the Annual Exhibition and since her death in 1964 the Society has continued the tradition by arranging this independent exhibition of students’ work.
