Art at the Heart of Ipswich: Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Ipswich Art Society. Friday 3 May – Sunday 23 June 2024 at The Hold. 10:00 – 16:00. The exhibition was suitable for all, and was Free of Charge

2024 marked a momentous occasion for Ipswich – the 150th anniversary of the Ipswich Art Society, a cornerstone of the town’s cultural landscape since 1874.

To celebrate, the Society hosted “Art at the Heart of Ipswich”, an exhibition that explored how social, economic and political changes, over the last century and a half, were reflected in the work of local artists.

This fascinating exhibition showcased a diverse range of artwork and ephemera from society members, the Ipswich Borough Art Collection, The East Anglian Traditional Art Centre and Suffolk Archives.

Alongside this exhibition were talks and workshops run by members of the Ipswich Art society and guest speakers.
