Piano Man by Taylor Beckett
Winner of the Mayor's Choice Award 2025
The Ipswich Art Society Annual Open Exhibition 2025 was opened by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Pat Bruce-Browne, at St Clement's Arts Centre on Saturday 17th May. This popular exhibition is open to anyone to exhibit alongside the Society artists. 186 works were shown, with about 20% of these submitted by members of the public. They included paintings in all media, drawings, prints and sculptures - in every style. The comments left in the visitors book reflected the variety and quality of work in the exhibition. The prestigious Mayor's Award was given to Taylor Becket for her striking chalk-on-black drawing, Piano Man.

After a two year wait, there was a welcome return to the Ipswich Art Gallery in High Street for the 143rd Annual Open Exhibition of the Ipswich Art Society. There is work by Members, Friends and the general public and a retrospective of work by Judith Foster and Claire Lambert, two of of our longest-standing and most respected Members. It was a pleasure to see many familiar faces at the Private View, and meet some new ones, in this well-loved venue which has played such an important role in the visual arts in the town.
Collection of unsold and purchased work: Saturday 7 May 10.00am - 4.00pm.
(Please arrange for someone to collect your work if you are unable to do so.)
