About Us

The Ipswich Art Society is one of the country's foremost exhibiting organisations for painters, sculptors and printmakers and has played a distinguished role in the cultural life of Suffolk's county town since 1874.

Past members include Alfred Munnings, F.G.Cotman, Harry Becker, E.R.Smythe, Tom Smythe, Edward Packard, John Duvall, Colin Moss, Anna Airy and Leonard Squirrell.

We hold three exhibitions a year.

  • The Annual Open Call Exhibition for Members, Friends and the general public.
  • The Anna Airy Exhibition and Award for young artists from 16 - 20 years of age.
  • The Small Works winter exhibition for Members.

You don't have to be a practising artist to join us.

Besides the opportunity to exhibit, the life of the Society includes talks by artists and art historians and invitations to private views and open studios. You are welcome to join in with as many or as few activities as you wish.

The annual subscription is £15 as a Friend and £25 as a Member. Membership of the Society is by election. To become a Friend please download the form below or contact The Membership Secretary, Ipswich Art Society, 89 Bucklesham Road, Ipswich IP3 8TT, or email ipswich.art.society.publicity@gmail.co
