About Us

The Ipswich Art Society is one of the country's foremost exhibiting organisations for painters, sculptors and printmakers and has played a distinguished role in the cultural life of Suffolk's county town since 1874.

Past members include Alfred Munnings, F.G.Cotman, Harry Becker, E.R.Smythe, Tom Smythe, Edward Packard, John Duvall, Colin Moss, Anna Airy and Leonard Squirrell.

As well as these regular events, from time to time we  hold other exhibitions with partners and smaller groups of artists.

  • The Annual Open Call Exhibition for Members, Friends and the general public.
  • The Anna Airy Exhibition and Award for young artists from 16 - 20 years of age.
  • The Small Works exhibition for Members and Friends.

You don't have to be a practising artist to join us. The Society welcomes all those who have an interest in the arts.
