Mary Scott Artist Statement My subject is usually the interior, often within a studio, where I select/place objects. The mirror is a recurrent theme (and may be seen as both object and reflector) as are self portraits.
In recent times I have found other places in my home environment. Atmospheric hallways, doorways and window spaces. I have liked the personal association of an inherited dressing table and my son’s upright piano.
I like to work on a series of drawings before painting. While the drawings are generally more spontaneous, the paintings often culminate in something more finished.
