Julie Driscoll

Artist Statement I have used art as a creative tool for many years having previously worked in psychiatry, as an Occupational Therapist both in England and abroad. Generally I am a self -taught Artist having developed my skills further by having tutorials from other professionals to improve my techniques.

Most of my work uses an ' impasto' style with oil paints ,palette knives and my hands! The paints are applied in layers over several weeks and I work on several canvases simultaneously. I enjoy the texture and appearance of oil paints and like to work freely on the canvas. The picture tends to evolve as I mix the paints and different tones are created .Some of my work can be seen on my website www.juliedriscoll.co.uk Generally they are impressionist contemporary landscapes , often depicting large skies and rivers, as seen in the local Suffolk landscapes. In contrast however I have completed some bold contemporary large commission paintings which are displayed in local offices. Regularly , my art is in exhibitions both individually and with other artists it is also on sale in Vanil www.vanil.co.uk a local interior design shop in Woodbridge, Suffolk.
